Healthy Respect Drop-In
Bridges Project are working in partnership with Healthy Respect and will be running drop-ins here at Bridges Project between 1pm and 2pm on Tuesday afternoons starting on 8 September 2009.
The Healthy Respect drop-in is somewhere to come for free, confidential advice, support and information on all kinds of health issues, from fitness and weight loss to smoking and drinking to stress and emotional wellbeing, as well as sexual health and relationships.
So, if you’re feeling anxious about something, or even if you just have a question to do with your health, you can come to the drop-in for a chat. They can help with just about anything! And, if the worker you speak to doesn’t have all the answers you need, they’ll let you know the best place to go, or who to speak to.
Other services that are available at our Healthy Respect drop-in are:
- c:card (for free condoms)
- contraception
- pregnancy testing
- chlamydia testing
Group Work Programme
We offer all sorts of group activities which are about having fun, meeting new people and learning interpersonal skills. We have lots of groups on each week, like cooking, art, Muay Thai Boxing, arts and crafts and multi-media. Sometimes we have special projects that focus on learning new skills like feltmaking, building your own bike and understanding how our bodies work.

Home Maintenance Support Worker
Our Home Maintenance Support Worker can help young people who live on their own (or who want to live on their own) learn how to keep their home safe and secure and carry out basic repairs. He can also teach young people all sorts of DIY skills, including how to paint and decorate, put up shelves, keep their garden tidy and laying floors.

Homemaker Service
Young people who are living in their own homes or who want to become more able to live independently can learn a lot from our Homemaker. She can help young people to maximise their income, cook, shop on a budget, keep their houses clean and make them nice places to stay in.

Personal Development Worker
Our Personal Development Worker helps 14-18 years olds to be more confident, have better self esteem, improve their relationships and manage their stress. She works with young people individually and can use lots of creative ways of working to help them be all that they want to be.

Personal Development Worker – Employability
Leaving school and moving on into the world of work can be difficult for some young people. To help them understand what is expected of them and how to go about moving forward in their lives, our Personal Development Worker will support them to make the right choices and decisions about their futures. Young people will also work on the skills they need to impress employers.

Personal Tutor
Our Personal Tutor helps young people to improve their reading, writing, number and ICT skills. As people become more comfortable doing this, it helps to increase their confidence and employability. All the work is done one to one and builds on the young people’s strengths and interests.

Way2Work
Our Way2Work work practice programme helps young people to learn all the skills they need in order to be able to get into and sustain a job that they really want. We work with local supportive employers who offer work practice placements so that young people get a real sense of what happens in the workplace and how they can progress and do well there.
